Team In Training: DJO employees signed up to be part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training program to get prepared to run in the Rock & Roll marathon, Lake Tahoe Century Bike Ride, and Wild Flower Triathlon events. Through direct sponsorship, employee BBQ fundraisers, cell phone recycling programs, and donations, DJO employees have raised over $75,000.
United Way: We at DJO have the opportunity to make a difference in each of our local communities. United Way has made great progress in creating measurable and lasting change for those less fortunate. As a long time United Way supporter, DJO is proud of our ongoing relationship and the opportunity it provides us to better our communities. In 2008, DJO employees contributed over $66,000 to the United Way through fundraisers and employee contributions.
Annual Golf Classic/Gala: DJO holds an annual golf tournament to benefit the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation and has raised $680,000 in scholarships for San Diego children since 2005.
Bring Your Child to Work Day: Each year, DJO invites employees to bring their children aged 8-15 to enjoy a fun day of learning and appreciating their parent’s other family…the DJO family. Children get to tour the office and learn about DJO through fun and interactive activities presented by volunteers from each of the company’s departments. The children always have a great time and the event helps employees bridge the work/life gap and share the pride they have for DJO with their children.
We listen to our employees by having an open door policy at all levels of management, through focus groups, town hall meetings and surveys. Suggestion boxes are also located throughout the DJO facilities to encourage employees to make suggestions on how to improve our company. After suggestions are collected they are evaluated by the human resources department and any company experts in the area of concern and then a follow up email is sent out to all employees providing feedback. We want to determine solutions for increasing employee satisfaction and retention, and to improve internal processes. We endeavor to be world class at everything we do at DJO.

Customers – DJO customers represent a key stakeholder in our success. The "voice of customer" is a key driver of our business and is an important component of our product development process to make sure we are providing customers with products that meet their needs and exceed their expectations. But listening to our customers doesn’t stop at product development. Throughout the year, DJO brings customers in-house for product focus groups. Product and customer satisfaction surveys allow us to collaborate with our customers and listen to their needs. We provide them with innovative, high quality products, services and solutions that allow them to succeed in their business.
Products – Award winning product development reflects the value we place on our design and manufacturing processes. With approximately 900 products, our scope is significant and ranges from soft-goods and rigid bracing to vascular therapies, TENS stimulation devices for pain management, bone growth stimulation devices and hip, knee and shoulder implants.
Services – DJO takes pride in its customer service. Customer Satisfaction surveys and continuous feedback drive improved performance. Customers can access DJO for products throughout the world in various Customer Service Departments allowing relationships regionally between our staff and customers. Distribution Centers have also been located regionally to serve customers based on demand patterns. DJO offers a staff of certified Athletic Trainers to support technical questions. We have world-wide field partners that meet with customers on a daily basis. Service also means education at DJO. Learning is a lifelong process, and one we take seriously. We offer programs that stimulate and challenge our customers and partners through our Clinical Education and Research Facility (CERF). DJO’s CERF facility provides a forum for surgical skills training and the development of new or innovative orthopedic surgical techniques through our Continuing Education Programs.

For 2008, DJO has initiated a multi-tier plan and Community Outreach Program throughout the Company’s locations. This plan involves corporate support of local programs, national campaigns and volunteerism. At the local level, the Company has been involved with many efforts to benefit the community:
- Donating back-to-school supplies to the San Dieguito Boys & Girls Club to help under privileged kids start the new school year;
- Hosting its Annual Golf Classic to support worthy causes like the Arthritis Foundation and the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. The Arthritis Foundation is the largest private, not-for-profit contributor to arthritis research in the world, funding more than $380 million in research grants since 1948 to improve the quality of life for those living with arthritis. The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships for the children of Marines and other active duty service men and women who are killed in the line of duty while combating terrorism. Since our fist Annual Golf Classic in 2005, DJO has raised over $555,000 dollars for these and other worthy causes;
- Employee volunteerism for a local program that refurbishes homes in the less-privileged areas of the City of Vista, California;
- Employee volunteerism to refurbish the Boys & Girls Club of San Diego;
- Organizing annual drives for food, toys and donations for the North County Partnership for Change, an organization that provides relief for homeless people in the northern part of San Diego County;
- DJO is proud to be a Silver Sponsor of the San Diego Children’s Hospital;
- Contributing bracing and support products to Project Walk, a program designed to help rehabilitate spinal cord injury patients.
On the national level, both employees and the Company have also generously donated to many relief efforts including the American Red Cross, The United Way, as well as specific disaster-related support for the victims of San Diego County’s wild fires and the Tsunami relief effort.
In 2008, several DJO employees participated in the San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon. The employees raised a total of $48,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for cancer research.
For 2009, DJO will focus its national charities effort by partnering with the United Way and Toys for Tots.
